On July 5, the International Research School that is on the basis of the Sakha Junior Science Academy in Oktyomtsy has started its work within the upcoming Yakutia International Science Games to be scheduled on July 8-15 in Yakutsk. The event was attended by 114 participants from five regions of Russia and 17 countries.
The organizers hold the welcome speech: Mr. Vasily PAVLOV, Rector of the Sakha Junior Science Academy, Mr. Eduard KONDRATIEV, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Mr. Alexei OBUKHOV, Scientific Director of Yakutia International Science Games.
Each of the organizers addressed the participants of the Games. Mr. Vasily PAVLOV noted that Yakutia has historically been a unique place to study this language. He also wished the participants good luck and expressed his hope that they would make friends from other countries.
Mr. Eduard KONDRATIEV said that apart from the International Research School, YISG include five competitive, four non-competitive and three accompanying events. Moreover, this year as part of the Games, the schoolchildren’s Tuymada Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science Olympiad are held for the 25th time.
Mr. Alexei OBUKHOV: «Thanks to the ideas of the great Russian scientist Vladimir VERNADSKY, the concept of sustainable development has been formed in the world. This is an unambiguously complex concept, but its idea is very simple: how to make an improvement for the life of mankind without destroying nature at the same time; mankind becomes a single organism, all cultures unite more or less, but how to save the cultural diversity? In some way, our Research School is an implemented model of this concept. Our idea is that we unite the world in order to understand how it is arranged and to make it better on the basis of research. We unite and become the whole, but the value of the cultural diversity of each of you, each of our delegation is very important for us. And I am glad our amazing land — Yakutia — unites us for the second year. Dear friends, explore everything you can, otherwise you will lose. YISG is a unique project of Yakutia, which unites competitive and non-competitive events. Our main idea is to study the world around us and ourselves, and I am sure that we will do it well.»
After the speech of the organizers, a solemn raising of the flag was held in honor of the opening of the 11th International Research School, and the event ended with the “Osuokhai” dance. After the dance schoolchildren were invited to choose a research project in which they will participate under the leadership of tutors.
