Today, on July 9, the first stage of the 3D modeling competition is taking place in the Faculty of Natural Sciences Building’s gym. There are 30 participating teams in total , each of them consists of two students. Most teams are from Yakutia, and only one team is from Kazakhstan.
There are 30 workplaces, equipped with computers and 3D printers, that have been occupied by participants of the competition on technical 3D modeling since the morning. Their task for today is to make a prototype of a multifunctional tool that must include hexagons of various sizes, wrenches, pliers, pliers, everything that can be useful for servicing a 3D printer. The teams will be engaged in artistic modeling tomorrow and the winner of this competition counts the team that scored the maximum total score on the results of participation in both directions.
«The main criteria for assessing the task of technical modeling will be the possibility of 3D printing of each model. The correctness of modeling and of the virtual assembly of the product, the readiness of the files for 3D printing will be evaluated, «says Igor Ivanov, the main expert and organizer of the competition.
Children will be at the competition from 9 am to 6 pm, with a break for lunch. There are rest are at competition with puffins, PlayStation, various games and also a table with food, tea and coffee. However, according to one of the participants, Anton Bulatov from Yakutsk, there is practically no time for rest — there are really a lot of work.
Experts are busy checking the work places of children, recording violations (scattered around the table, garbage, food), and from time to time they advise participants if there is a technical issues.
«All participants from our republic passed qualifying competitions, we also conducted preparatory seminars and courses,» says Igor Ivanov. «Children between 7th and 11th grade compete as equals, because the main principle of selection was skills, not age.
