On July 12, a friendly football match was held for participants and volunteers of the Yakutia International Science Games. The match took place at the Yunost Stadium, 27 children aged 13 to 18 took part in it, among them were children from Yakutia, Sakhalin, Singapore, Nepal and Bangladesh.
On the back of the passing World Cup in Russia, it was decided to hold a friendly match. “I often play football with my friends after school, generally, I like football. I cheered for Russia, it was a pity they dropped out of the game. Now I hope that Croatia will win”, says 14-year-old Vladimir Fedorov from the Ust Aldansky region.
The children were divided into two mixed teams. According to the referee, they played under the simplified rules of FIFA. «I’m playing for the first time today,» laughs 15-year-old Ryan from Singapore. «This is much steeper than I thought.»
The match was held in two halves, to the music, the cheerful voice of the commentator and the cheers of the fans. One of the teams won with a score of 5: 2, anyway, nobody was offended — all the players received an ivory souvenir and a certificate as a gift.
«The goal of the match was to bring together and befriend the participants of the YISG,» says Vladislav Belyaev, one of the organizers.
